Here is an honest rating. Not like the other hundreds of dishonest all 5 star ratings posted (planted) here. I love my job. I like the bennefits and compensation. The constant harrassment of employees is starting to get to me, however. CN has a micromanagement culture. Unless you are in upper management, your ideas will be ignored or ridiculed. CN owns your life. There is no work/life balance. The majority of employees will never have a weekend off or even a predictable schedule. The majority of people I work with either hate the company or tolerate it because they think they can't find a better job. If you can work anywhere else, do so.

who is this person that keeps posting positive reviews and attacks negative ones? Its obviously the same person since everything I read sounds the same and they keep making references to the "terminated one".

Somehow this railway comapany is shangrila and there is no negative comments to make? how incredibly small minded and obtuse of a campaign. I think it just magnifies how bad the place is.

Looks like the bitter bum doesn't like that fact that some people actually enjoy working at CN.

Thanks for the honest comment, some management schrill has way too much time on his hands, like mentioned above, imput from employees is ignored or ridiculed..an e-mail to Claude might be in order...I'm sure any C.E.O. would be embarassed to learn his manager(s) are so small minded

That's right, the bitter bum wrote all the fake negativer reviews, but doesn't like it when real employees post the positive truth about CN.

Totally agree with this post no work life balance at all , work all stat holidays even Christmas and the shifts are absolutely brutal. I'm talking about smaller line points here . I think 80% of this companies problems would be solved if they would just hire more people to give employees somewhat of a life.

Looks like the same terminee keeps posting the same garbage over and over again. Good thing that people like that are removed from the organization!

I'd be surprised if cn removed anyone from our department! I wish they would, starting with our inexperienced boss. 3 years in the company, zero previous experience and already she is head of a large department. Nothing gets done here, and everyone gets blamed but her. Strange though that nobody gets fired if we are all so terrible.

The loser obviously has a big grudge against the company - it must suck to be so obsessed with one's former employer!

It must suck having to stoop to lying on a review site constantly. CN has sunk that low folks! The joke is on the couple of individuals that have to actually do this! HEE HEE! What sad excuses for management.

Hey how come you guys are always mass hiring for the same positions across canada? HEE HEE!

1) Great Pay

2) overall fairly easy work

3) Great people

4) Great opportunity for advancement, either within unionized positions or within management

5) Great leader, with a great focus, great corporate outlook

6) Great team, lots of knowledge, lots of help when needed

7) Safety

8) Those who continually mess up and put others in danger are held accountable

Well regarded by the vast majority of those who work here - you do get a handful of disgruntled failures obsessed with their ex-employer, but that happens everywhere folks.

From what I've heard thru my friend who still works there, its true about the quick job advancements BUT the mgmt jobs eventually lead you to take stress leave. Its true about working ALL holidays, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. BUT only certain people with great stamina can work that much. Definitely no after work or social life to speak of. Would not recommend CN for people with young children, a social life, or ppl that slack off.
