Excellent company to work for- great room for advancement within own division as well as entire company.Plenty of competition to get in - in 2010, CN received over 85,000 applications through CN's website with 2,300 new railroaders accepted into the company.
In 2009 CN reported that the company would be hiring 10,000 new employees over the next 5 years as almost 50% of the workforce was at the level to retire,(the company has 22,000 employees). Not an easy place to work in.
2300 new railroaders accepted, how many stay? It is something like a 20% retention ratio.
20% stay? In my class of 15, only 2 are left.
98% retention rate (not counting those kicked out for good reason) - with a long line up waiting to get in.
I was hired in 98. Still there, out of my class of 4 - I'm the only one who took the job, everyone else went on to better employers
Bunch of 50 people who hired on in high school, never worked a hard job in their life and all they do is cry about the work. Place would be much better if 25% of the work force retired tomorrow and wouldn't have to deal with all the cry babies. I can't believe there are people with a grade 10 education who make 120 thousand dollars a year who cry that they don't make enough or that they have to wake up at 2 am to make that kind of cash.
