Toronto Transit Commission

Size of company: Large (More than 500 employees)

Industry: Tourism, Travel, Passenger transportation

  • TTC is a large organization and some departments are more worker friendly than others. The subway infrastructure department led by Fortunato Monaco and his subordinates Mostafa Nouri and Gordon Webster is the most corrupt of all. They do not appreciate hard work and see those who take initiative as a threat. Disciplinary processes are used for reprisals and to prevent junior employees from succeeding in their careers.

Though the TTC offers good pay and benefits to its employees, it does not enforce any accountability on its management which leads to rampant worker abuse, corruption, nepotism and favouritism. If you are motivated by good pay, benefits and having most of your work time occupied by workplace politics, TTC subway infrastructure is the place for you. If you are motivated by hard work, professionalism and integrity. It is better to look into other departments within the TTC.
