• I had a chance to work at 3 separate locations. Most of the staff were great to work with but management is terrible. The lack of training is terrible. I had no trainer and I spent the first 3 hours guessing what to do. Management acts like you should know everything after watching a week’s worth of training videos. Most of the managers have poor interpersonal skills. I have no idea how some of them became managers. One manager has a serious B.O. problem. From what I’ve seen, managers aren’t selected based on their interpersonal skills. Employee benefits are garbage. One location only lets employees have one free coffee, having to use your own cup, or a free muffin or donut, shift only. So, you can’t take a coffee after your shift. It baffles my mind how many managers I come across that have poor management skills that shouldn’t be in these positions.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• I worked at SAIT's campus in Calgary, Senator Burns building.
  The management is horrible, they are bullying you for every little mistakes. I was on the training period tho. It's like an army, but 10 times worse.
  Everyday I went home hating myself.

• I have worked at Tim Hortons located at 2215 Erin Mills Parkway, Mississauga. It was great to work in the beginning and after one year, it becomes distressful. Long hours but low wages, no raise and no benefits at all. The management are cruel and treats their workers like slaves. One small mistake and you get yelled and mistreated for it. The store owner is a very nice guy but he needs to be careful who he promotes as all the managers he promoted are very cruel. There is lots of conflict of interest going on as the management and store owner are in the same country, same nation. The head office does not support employees and always sticks up for the management and owner. Either learn to treat your employees with respect that they deserve for their hardwork and effort, or else, you can't expect any new employees in the future. • Tim Hortons I have worked located at 3400 Victoria Avenue East. I'm an international student and wanted to earn enough salary just to cover my expenses. It was so hella great at the very beginning. I was able to adapt quickly because of similar jobs I have completed . I loved it and even voluntarily I stayed there off hours just to help my team. Till last January, everything was perfect and then something happened. They started to cut my hours with no hella reason. It down to one shift per week. My managers started to threat me like an animal. Co-workers yelled at me like a boss. Harass me by using their own language. I was able to understand because of their hella word choice. Somehow I was able to work 4 months more after January. When i was asking why manager how to improve myself they are always making up something. I understand it is a family store and wanna back each other up. Literally bringing their family members to have a citizenship thats what I always think about. I gave my notice and never showed up. The anxiety, stress was impossible to bear. I understand i would yell at in every workplace i have worked but this is hella extreme. Whoever you are, just stay away from there. And have a hella good life because that place is enough to have a will to kill, torture and burn the entire store down

• So I worked at a Tim Hortons in a small shopping center in Manitoba for almost four years, I have high functioning autism also know as ASD and was an afternoon baker. At first everything was fine the costumers were nice as well as my co workers until January of this year when there was new management.
  I started to notice my hours were getting cut from five days a week till almost being two or three times a week, I tried asking my new manager for more hours but was told many excuses over and over again. Then when my manager went on a month long vacation the general manager cut my hours again to being one day a week for three hours. so one day in May I finally had enough and went to work to discuss why I couldn't get more hours, now before I say more I was told to help out in the front whenever my co workers needed help which I always do even though I was very uncomfortable.
  so With my phone in hand I started to record my discussion with my manager. She asked me if I helped out in the front which I informed her that I did since she wasn't there to witness it and asked me if I was doing any cross training which I didn't have time to do since the mall is located beside a high school.
  as I was trying to explain to her that I was indeed helping out as best as I could she said this "well how many pots of coffee did you make?" at that moment I was stunned and angered at her comment it almost sounded rude and cocky for a manager to say to an employee including someone who has a disability.   Main and floor managers on this branch gave their employees' the worst treatment when it with no proper training especially in the health and safety procedures. Not a great place and Tim Hortons branch to start working with especially for new employees looking for a new experience. • Worked for 3 larger companies in my 30 years in the workforce. Never witnessed a company treat employees with less respect then Tim Hortons. The managers are fine, it is the owners who treat almost every employee with no respect. I have seen my manager leaving her office crying numerous times after meeting with the owner. I have witnessed the owner berate management and employees numerous times over my 8 years with the company. I have witnessed numerous burns and injuries by employees because of ownerships strict time restraints on serving customers. Tim Hortons breakfast standards is 25 seconds per car at the window. Our owners who own 12 stores make there time 20 seconds per car. Because of this employees are in a huge rush to get food/drinks out the window. Staff is running all over the place to serve guests further. I have seen staff falling on wet slippery floors because of this. I have seen staff spilling coffee on themselves and guests because of this. Totally unsafe work environment. There is no reason for anybody to berate a staff member in public or in private. I have no idea how this is an accepted practice. There are positives. Work schedules are flexible and easy to book time off. But the negatives far outweigh the positives. Get a raise when you get a great yearly evaluation. Ya right. Have lunch on us because the staff did a great job today. Ya right. I cannot believe the greed of a company that obviously makes money from the shareholders to the front office to the owners but continues to pay there staff minimum wage. Absolutely shocked that unions haven't infiltrated Tim Hortons and other greedy companies i.e. Wal-Mart McDonald's etc...... Yes these jobs are meant for students, 2nd incomes etc...but there are many adults who need a fair income. Thank you province of Ontario for changing that soon. It's been too many years of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Other negatives I've seen over the years: staff coming in to work and being sent home before they start because of too many staff being on. Staff sent outside to clean parking lot in pouring rain or freezing weather. Company won't even buy jackets, gloves etc for staff in these conditions. No overhang over drive thru window which staff has asked for years. When it's a hard rain the poor employee working the window is soaked if wind is blowing that way which it almost always is at our store. Many guests would like to tip staff with credit card or debit but company refuses to allow that because it would slow down the lineups. Over the years out owners have taken many staff incentives away and not added anything in return. At one time it was a decent place to work at. In the last 5 years they have taken our 15 minute break away. They have cut the staff discount on food and drinks from 50% to 20%. Christmas discount on merchandise from 25% to nothing. At staff meetings there used to be pizza and pop served. Now nothing. I wouldn't recommend anybody to work at Tim Hortons in any capacity from management to general staff. • OMG. I'm gonna quit after 3 weeks. I hate my restaurant in Toronto. The manager wasn't prepared at all when I came. If I was a manager, I would greet the new employee and show him around, introduce him to the co-workers and would offer him his first free coffee (that was why I came 20 minutes earlier!).
  And when the manager wants me to work more hours, he just says: So today it's from 7am - 3pm instead of noon.
  Sorry, not with me. He should ask properly. Like" Sorry, our shifts have changed. Would it be possible..?`"
  And on the 2nd day they said: Speed up! And I was like: Sorry, it's my 2nd day?!?!
  If you don't understand the English of the co-workers which mostly are from India, they use to speak louder. But that's so not the problem, it's mostly about spelling words and so on.
  I don't know, the internal way of communication is so so bad. I hate it and started to sleep bad the nights before my shift. So - goodbye, Tim Hortons.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• Worst place I've ever worked. My first day, the manager forgot he'd told me to come in that day and was unprepared so told me to come back the next day. The next day, they couldn't find him. They made me sign form after form saying "this is something for the government, you have to sign it" without letting me read any of them. The person who was supposed to train me didn't want to because she said she was "too good at her job", the next person didn't want to train me either but was ordered to and did for 10 minutes and then her shift was over (her 10 minutes of training was all I got that day and was by far the best), then I was passed from one to another newish employees who all commented one or more of: they hated training/didn't want to train/didn't know how to train/I just started here too/just do your best/stay out of my way. Then 4 hours after I started, my "trainer" arrived and said she wouldn't train me for at least 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, she showed me how to use the dishwasher but not much of anything else so I just trailed behind her while she did things but taught me nothing. Then I was passed off to two more people, both of which told me they didn't have any idea how to train. When my training shift was over, I was told I couldn't leave and had to keep working because the assistant manager had left and I had to wait for her to return before I could leave. When she got back, she told me they'd forgot to sign me in but figured I'd probably get paid. I'm not a stupid person but how can anyone expect to learn and get better in this kind of environment? If I quit after 1 day, they take my entire training shift pay and I'll still owe them $60 for the uniform. DO. NOT. RECOMMEND. EVER. The employees over there aren't treated that good and scolded very badly in front of the customers. • I would definitely recomend not working for Tim Hortons. I was in Edmonton downtown and one on 111 avenue and 119st. 2 different owners. The first owner paid no attention to his business as long as he was rolling in a profit. The foreign workers liked to gang up on all the new hires and put them down. For a company that claims a diverse and inclusive environment they were definitely far from it. They do not direct deposit right away and upon quitting will essentially hold your check hostage. People who do not have the ability to stand up for themselves or deal with "bullies" do not last. Customers overall are fine. Get them their coffee stirred and correct and customers are happy as clams. The second location was terrible. Owner was a very kind and caring gentlemen unfortunately his store manager and some of his supervisors were not. The manager was completely rude to her staff. Their main concern was how quickly can you get people out the door weather the order was correct or not as long as they left they didn't care. • HTerrible supervisors feel the right to yell at you when things go wrong even though they only get paid $2 more than you. There is also favouritism which in end effects your availability. Some customers also try to make you look bad just so that they could get free stuff. Since they don't give receipts this happens often.
  The workplace or break room is smaller than my closet. Also too many rules on food for work. You can throw food in the garbage when it's expired but not give it to us?
  No employees of the month ever
  If you work part time be ready to work some unusual hours and be called often because someone is taking a day off or sick.
  Schedules are usually put up a day or two before the. Next week.

• Holy shit, where do I even begin. I am currently approaching a year mark working at Tims. TDLR; please dont work here.
  I will start with the pros (there are some, believe or not)
  Pros:
  -Very flexible and understanding, which is greatly appreciated because I am an university student.
  - Awesome supervisors and assistsnt managers are A+++. Keep in mind though, I am "that one" that almost all "higher ups" adore. I have seen many complaints about the supervisors and management. They are all valid. I did want to mention that they are very approachable if you do your work.
  - Fun workplace during weekends. Weekends are filled with part timers, which means teenagers. As a team oriented workplace, its really crucial that we get along. People my age are fun AND more efficient to work with.
  - Consistent and accurate pay
  
  okay here are the cons now.
  -No punishment given to those who dont care. So over the year that Ive worked, I called in sick once, and was late by minutes maybe twice. If I had to miss a day, I'd take initiative to make sure that I contact my managers/supervisor at least two weeks prior. Almost no recognitions for this, instead I get shit when I want to book some days off. They give me super early shifts and excessive hours because thdy "need me for drivethru".
  Others who constantly doesnt show up or are late arent fired or written up. I tried calling in sick two days prior once only to be met with a response of "well find someone who can cover your shift. why didnt you book it off?". Makes me question why I even bother to be responsible sometimes, when I can just not show up and literally get no consequences.
  -Terrible management. Constantly missing people, severely overstaffed/understaffed randomly. Never orders what we need (we ran out of sugar, Small lids, and lettuce. WTF). Manager is blinded by the stupid drive-thru time, disregards pretty much everything if it means she will get the time she wants. Constantly tries to "help" people with their tasks to speed things up but just gets in their ways. Doesnt bother to find out the issue, just yells about drive thru time and demands to know why our drivethru time is bad to me passing stuff out at the window.
  -Always fresh, Tim Hortons. More like 'Always broken, Tim Hortons'. There is not a single machine that did not break mid-shift (esp frozen beverage machine). Our location is the busiest in the area, and the machines just cant keep up.
  Oh, did I mention that everyone was sweating their balls off the entire summer because the AC is broken? And we are surrounded by like 10 coffee pots? Jesus.
  - Terrible expectations and standards set by the company, with literally no way to meet them unless you have 10 hands and a coordination of a god. How the hell are we supposed to use rainbow coloured tools to grab each ingredient for the sandwich but manage to toast/grill it and pass it out to the customer in 30 seconds? Please.
  - Gossip that goes on. It is a small space with a lot of people. Gossip is inevitable. There is a group of Indians (forgive me if I was ignorant) who speak in their own language and talks shit in the front but supervisor does nothing to fix it because she is part of them as well. Complaints have been made and guidelines were set by the district manager but no one enforces them.
  -Rush hour makes you want to slap the customers and run away screaming. It never ends, extremely stressful, complaints arent being dealt with, I get yelled at, manager yells at us because she got yelled at. Fun times fun times.
  
  I could honestly go on but Im going to run out of word count LOL. I met some great people there (whom I always hang out with at school now) but there are honestly better jobs with equal or better pay that is way stress free and chill.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• I worked for Tim Hortons I was never recognized for my hard work and loyality. I was never nominated for employee of the month. Lots of things were not fair. At the end it was all about business only. If i could rate Recognition, Pride, Engagement, Values and Corporate Cuture 0 (zero) I would. • Tim Hortons is a terrible place to work. I would not recommend anyone go work there. All they care about is profit and how many customers they can serve. They constantly hire new employees, resulting in old ones having the amount of hours they work decreased. The managers have no idea what they are doing although they like to pretend they do. • Managers are rude, I've had customers yell back at managers defending me after managers yelled at me in front of them. They've completely forgotten to pay me and messed up my hours after I've had to continuously ask to be paid, and they have a mandatory unpaid training program to be done at home on your time which is hours and hours of unpaid work and ridiculously detailed.   read complete rating Hide complete rating
