• Worked here for six years during a boom in the auto industry. Got out right before massive layoffs took hold. This is a place where you work while looking to find something better, namely, a stepping stone. Most of the people who worked here were either fresh out of jail or had gotten fired from better places. On the positive side, they give everyone a chance, including a lot of people new to the city and the country. • Okay, first thing you should know about this job is that the work is relatively easy and pays about what you would expect for it ( 15$ an hour after probation ). Now for the bad, most supervisors are okay and won't get in your way throughout the day, some may even walk around and ask if everything is okay. If the supervisors don't like you I expect they would treat you accordingly but I personally have never had a problem with this level of management. Now the MAJOR issue with this company is upper management, they are like chickens with their heads cut off they have NO idea what is going on most of the time. When I first got hired the place had the illusion of being organized but this is far from the truth. There have been persistent problems at this company that many employees have discussed with management only to be told these problems will be fixed ( Anyone who has worked on Lewis road on rt-27 knows what I am talking about ) and the problems most certainly do NOT get fixed. Currently the company is rated a poor supplier by the company we ship parts to and there are rumors that the place may soon go out of business. Wouldn't apply there unless you are looking for a temporary job as I don't expect the company to last too long into 2016.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• I currently work at guelph tool only due too economic down turn in automotive industry but will leave when prospects look better. This company is short sighted and will most likely be liquidated when the owner passes away. The son,s heart,in my opinion is not in it to improve upon this company. This is why very little money is being invested in equipment and very little attention is being paid too day to day operations.If the powers that be would take a close look at the money flying out the the window then maybe the would see just how poorly managed most departments run. My recommendation is work there only as a last resort but don't stay long. If you are a useless slob and can,t chew gum and walk at the same time , then try for a management position. • This is the type of company you work for when there is nothing else. Work there till something better comes along but know your legal rights before going in as they will exploit peoples ignorance of the law. Vacation pay is 2 weeks per year however the company has mandated that 1 week will be used for summer and one week must be kept for christmas. They have a summer shutdown period however those dates can and most times do change at a moments notice. There has been a wage freeze for almost 5 years and the benefits are sorely inadequate. The long term disability benefit (which is mandatory) is paid by the employee yet the premiums have doubled while the coverage has been reduced. Payroll constantly makes mistakes yet people must wait till the next pay period for corrections and only if you keep your paystub for proof. The company is run by the managers yet they are constantly engaging in favouritism, coercion and intimidation to get what they want. The attendance policy is 2.5% per month which works out to approximately 5 hours off a month. While this is acceptable the fact that it only applies to certain people is not. Managers regularly hide things from corporate. While they do have an open door policy the plant managers/production managers will exact revenge if it is used. If ever a company was in need of a union this is one that does. However be prepared, the employees are told regularly that if a union is voted in then people really need to think hard about it as companies are closing everyday and moving to mexico. Not a healthy environment to work in. Much better off somedays working for a drive thru at a fast food place.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• Guelph Tool has got to be the worst place I've worked in the history of the stamping process. Incompetent, lazy and amoral management along with antiquated technology and a culture of fear that should have been eliminated in the 19th century. • Laid off. Yet they hire new people. A very poorly managed company run by an incompetent management team. Lots of bad news from these guys. Stay away! Definitely not recommended. • More attention to the value of long term employees and there input for the success of the company . Too many long term employees are not kept happy or layed off to keep people with lessor seniority causing bad moral as no one knows if there job is safe.   read complete rating Hide complete rating
