Flow is a program that brings product into the store according to their demand/forecast. The flow program starts at the vendor who delivers product to our exact total demand, the dc that slots the product on a "special" grid to stores receiving their exact demand.

The flow program is simply another way that Loblaws are trying to get more work from less staff. Before, their was an employee doing frozen foods, another doing dairy products, and about four employees doing the grocery isles. Now they have about four or five employees doing everything starting with all the frozen is to be done, then the dairy is to be done and then the grocery department is to be done. Plus they want all the displays in the store to be done and then everything has to be faced off. I think they are totally insane to expect so much work from their employees. The union for this company is doing nothing for part-timers except take their weekly fee. The part-time staff would be better off getting rid of this union and try to get a real union which would be totally on the side of the employees. All of the high wages are paid to the daytime management where no work is being done and low wages are paid to the night-time crew where all the work is being done. It is certainly time for Loblaws to take a hard look at all production in their stores and they will see who and where all the real work is being done and they should pay accordingly.

Exactly Right. I am in middle management, and along with my co-workers (middle management was told in a meeting) that we were going to be reduced from 7 department managers to 3 that would oversee the flow program. Some of us would be moved to other stores, and some of us would be gone. We were told by our manager that "This is the way the company is going" so get with it. or get out. Ever since the meeting he has been treating us like garbage trying to get us to quit. This company says one thing, and does another next week. They talk about respecting one another, then they do exactly the opposite. I don't believe any of their promises, and have fully lost faith in anything they say as an employer. It's sad that they care more about the bottom line then the people who make them all the money.

more work less employees, couldn't agree more, also i believe it is designed to get people who have been there for a long time to become enraged and quit, to everyone who works for them always shop across the street:)
