I've worked for loblaws for two years now part time. The only reason I continue to stay here is because the staff is overall quite friendly and easy to get along with. That is the only positive point I can give. The store is CONSTANTLY cutting hours. New hires are lucky to get 4 hours a week. All stores are open until 11 and open at 7, no matter the location (downtown Toronto, small town, whats the difference right?). The new contract only gives time and a half if you work a holiday. If you're not 18 they will only pay you a student wage 80 cents below minimum wage. Only 10% discount. Old equipment, we are always short of brooms and trucks. It took management 6 months to fix a leak in the produce fridge that was constantly dripping on anyone walking through, which was literally a 15 minute fix for the maintenance guy. At my work place there are a bunch of creepy managers who hit on all the teen girls, even as far to ask for their numbers and adding on Facebook. Hope you like 4 hour shifts. Hope you like being at the store for 5-6am. Hope you like working until 11. All new hires will FOR SURE be working those incredibly terrible hours, I've worked here for 2 years and it's still all I get. Do yourself a favor and work somewhere else. There's literally a revolving door with new hires coming in and leaving after a few weeks.

A good example of how cheap and penny pinching loblaws is? If you're a hard worker and manage to win the employee of the month award (it has a different stupid name) you get a badge you can wear on your name tag! Yay! Oh, and every 500 hours you work you get a 5 cent raise! I'm not making this up! DON'T APPLY HERE. DON'T WORK HERE.

Flow is basically night shift. All work that is currently done during the day will now get done at night. Planos, price changes, stocking, working overstock and facing will all be done at night. This means less to no hours for the daytime. If you are available anytime, they WILL put you on nights, and if you fight it, they will tell you to change your availability, and when you do, you will get very few hours. This is all in an attempt to cut costs and to force the higher paid colleagues to quit. I think they should work on getting rid of the highly paid cashiers,REALLY, how hard is it to operate a register? These cashiers will never quit because they get paid as much as trades people. They could have 3 cashiers in place of one of the overpaid cashiers. Bingo no line-ups!!
