I worked for this company 34 years between part-time and full-time. When I first started I would work and walk the extra mile to do anything for management. Now that I was terminated for lack of time not worked back in 2010. I'm upset that I wasn't told I was close to the end if I didn't get in and work at least my shift for the month. I see it in visits to any store the atmosphere and moral really, really sucks and upper crust should do something to improve. NOW!!!!! I would love to come back with full seniority from when I left and continue on working with Loblaw and prove to them that they lost an employee who really cared, compared to what the upper crust has done to most or all stores. Moral and caring is totally lost. Bats
I walk the extra mile for the company too and i am a manager. I don't like the fact that we are expected to 65 or 70hrs a week without extra pay or lou days. Sometimes we get that extra but not without grief when we get back. Trust me this goes on at many of the Loblaws and RCSS in the company. Everyone just shuts up about it. The company was a fun place to work but greed has taken over from the store managers bonuses to the DMS and up. Thats what this is all about now..
I agree with just about every comment posted here....but if you have worked for Loblaws for 34 years, you should have known you had to work one shift a month...
How on Earth do you support yourself on one shift a month? I wish I were that lucky. I completely agree that they use the SMs, ASMs and DMs horribly. There is a reason why they force you guys to relinquish the protection of the union before you take the job...which is why at least at the RCSS I'm at they also have difficulty finding experienced colleagues willing to take the managing positions when they come available. We're not so new that we haven't seen other DMs come apart at the seams, and we have been around long enough to see the BS.Most of my DM's family works at the same store. Her daughter had a medical emergency and was flown to a children's hospital 6 hours away. The company refused to give her leave to sit with her daughter during a life-threatening illness until she threatened to quit. Because she had used all of her vacation time to be with her during a previous episode, she had to take that leave unpaid.
