Let me first say that I'm thankful for working at a Loblaw store the last couple of years. I've made some cash on the side and the job itself can be done by a monkey (let's be honest guys). I am also on good terms with my manager. Unfortunately, these are bad times. I can't speak to another person in the store who isn't upset with the way things are done in their department. Almost everyone is constantly complaining. The negative energy is throughout the store. Our "regulars" have also noticed work performance dip as weve been cutting hours lately. I cant provide the same service to the people who now I know on a first name basis simply because there is more and more ... where is the help? The worst part right now are the horror stories which are coming out of the woodworks. Snitching has been happening since day one and I know it. People are getting weeded out in favor of "new blood" which is incapable and without work experience (store-wide). We were all incapable at one point, all Im saying is that people are being thrown out there with no knowledge of what theyre doing as training has seemingly become a myth. All this puts extra pressure on the more experienced personnel which now has to work its tails off to make up for people's mistakes. I will also never forget how one of my buddies at the store was pretty much forced to quit (union did nothing)Honestly, I'd still recommend this job if someone asked me. I've personally been treated with respect more often than not and Ill give my management credit for always responding to requests for time off or vacations.
Just wanted to add that I;m recommending this job strictly because it's "something" and I truly think that my store is not as bad as other stores seem to be. I am surrounded by smart people but the structure sucks
