Free trade has absolutely destroyed any good union jobs and companies in Canada. In 1970 the largest company was G.M. They paid excellent union wages, benefits, and pension. Today the largest employer is Walfart. They pay minimum wage, no benefits, no pension. Over fifteen years ago I worked part-time at Loblaws and made $15.00 an hour with excellent benefits. Corporations now adays exist for two reasons - profit and growth - screw the workers. It absolutely sucks. Loblaws has followed this model. They used to be an excellent company now no way. Beleive me I know. I worked for Loblaws my whole life, store and office. From 15 years of age to 48.
Marxism my friend!
I had a car at 17 (camaro 1970), insurance was $900 a year no issues. Now adays a kid - one could not afford a car never mid the 3 4 5 grand insurance. OH did I mention I paid for college myself. Getting a bit off topic but it is good for the young duds and chicks see what was.
