All Loblaws stores will convert by December, 2012. Every employee will have to decide which option they want. The company and union are telling us employees that we will have to work mininum of 12 hours a week with the new scheduling provisions. I want to know where in the new contract does it state 12 hours of minium hours that a part-time has to work.
It's in the fine print............they want people to work more, no matter your seniority. They don't care if you go to school or if you have two other part time jobs to survive!! The best thing to do is to LEAVE and find another job because they will make your life a living hell!thanx Galen and.............UFCW 1000A!!
Our store hasn't converted yet. We are being scheduled as if we're under the new banner. I don't understand how that can be done when we are still a Zehrs. I'm told the good old stand by remark "for the needs of the business"
The new scheduling provisions allow you to request a limit on the number of hours you work each week. The company can require you to work a minimum of two shifts per week (eight hours) and no more, should you make this request in advance of schedule creation.
Furthermore, requests for time-off shall not be unreasonably denied. This means that if you have a legitimate reason (such as school) that they cannot schedule you, even if this means you are working a very small number of hours per week.
