I worked at Loblaws for 7 years, at the time I wasn't happy there. However in retrospect, it is a pretty good company to work for if you are working your way through school like I was. There were benefits, pretty good pay and flexible hours for P/T employees. What more do you want for a p/t job while going through school?

Pretty good pay? I know some part timers who have not had a raise in 5 years...........you have to reach a ridiculous 5000 hours for your first raise! Flexible hours? You sign your life away when you apply, you can't change your availability until you reach another unreachable number!

Don't waste your time here.

Pay was okay but bad place to work in as nothing good can be said overall and deserves a negative 2 or 3 rating.

Benefits good? Not once your store is flipped. To qualify for their new benefit pkg the length of time working for Loblaws to qualify has increased by years for some. Also the amount of hours you need to work in the previous year has jumped by 300 hours for some benefits. Benefits good? I would strongly disagree.

Maple grove employee (National Grocers) going on 6 months part time and 1and a half year full time.

- BENEFITS FOR PART TIMERS ???? since when ???? no benefits untill you get full time, and thats only if you get full time. If you don't hit the percentage's they ask, then you wont get it. The I.T departments is a good job at loblaws who wouldent mind working on computers all day in a nice chair. Try working on the floor, Picking orders or driving reachtruck, driving forklift, loading trailers to capacity. and get 12$ an hour for picking as part timer, note; picking is the hardest to do on the floor. Reachtruck and Loading are a tie roughly on how hard the work is, they are considered upgrades. Once you get full time you get a raise to 14 an hour, and a 30 cent raise every 6 months untill you reach maximum hourly wage, trust me, you have to work you're ass off for it.

I think it takes like 5 years. Once a new job bid comes out you can bid on a new position withen the company, don't expect to get anything good on you're first bid expect a GW position, you pick orders most of the day with the odd upgrade to loading or reachtruck, this will go on like that untill you get a posted position like forklift or reachtruck. anyway, hope this helps someone from wasting alot of time like I have been doing, im currantly looking for new employment, BTW the UNION is a joke, I pay to them every week and they haven't done anything for us, especially when I needed them to fight for me over 3 different occasions. GOOD LUCK !

I've been with the company for 6 years. Flexibility was good depending on your manager. Pay was terrible. My raises got cancelled out every time minimum wage went up. How fair is it that the new kid is making the same as I am and I've put years into the company? Benefits were great...but with the flip all of that is going to change. They will no longer be flexible, the pay sucks, and benefits can only be acquired after 3 years of working for them and a hell of a lot of hours! good times.
