The company morale is low. Most of the Senior Management there have no hands on experience and do not lead from the front. No wonder why people leave in droves. Much of the HR department is no better and lack the muscle to make others treat people with dignity and respect. Core principles for retaining and attracting people. I was disappointed with my work experience at Loblaw and would not recommend working there.
The company is in the process of introducing a new scheduling system that will ultimately cut everyone's (part time mostly) hours. They seem to think they know when someone should be working and not working? They do not even work at store level! These pencil pushers should wake up and smell the beacon!
Yes, it's called labour management. There are many weight factors that go into the calculation. And no, it won't be perfect especially off the bat. It's scheduling for set up and for when the customers are shopping. Not scheduling because of seniority.Ever been to an HMR and have the one staff serving the salads, hot case, coffee bar and running the cash with a line up of 10 people. Other times have you seen 5 people standing around chatting doing nothing? It's about having the right amount of people when needed to cut down on wasted hours and use the hours when they are needed. I'm optimistic that it will work if the managers will actually follow it.
