I have worked for this company since 1984. It was a great place to work, it was like a big family and everyone worked well together. Today I would not recommend it to anyone to work there. Wages, scheduling, work ethics have gone down to the bottom of the barrel. As soon as my store flips to the "DARK SIDE"(Loblaw Great Food) and my buydown money is in my account, I'm gone..........anywhere but at Loblaws. From many other employees that I have spoken to, they will do the same and this company will be in serious trouble.
It has begun. The eastern district ie Lindsay, Bowanville and Kingston stores have been given their notice that the stores will be flipping to Great Food August 28th 2011. Woman and children first please...........the Captain (Galen Weston) will stay on board and go down with the ship!
I should also mention that the Union representing the Loblaws employees can also share in the downfall of this once mighty company. They are obviously working with the company and screwing the people it represents. They don't care about our wages or work conditions, or if long term employees leave. As long as the company continues to hire min. wage employees , the union receives their weekly dues from us. Our wages go down and Union dues go up. Shame on you UFCW !!!!
I have to agree with the statement about the UFCW. Most certainly they are sleeping with the Company! Last year's contract vote made that quite obvious.
