This is one of the worst companies I've ever worked for. They are so focused on the customer, they forget about their employees. More nepotism than I have ever seen, and people are promoted based on their years of service, not their abilities. The moral in my department at head office was atrocious.
I find they don't care about the customers or the employee's!!!!
I found the same thing. I am a mother. I worked at Zehrs part-time. My "boss" who is 24 moved a girl over from an adjacent department. She is 22 and has "seniority" over me. They moved in together shortly afterwards because I have no seniority I have received next to no hours. I explained that this is a conflict of interest. The store manager told me that I should discuss "my" issues with the union. I have worked my butt off there, I am honest, punctual, university educated and have owned a business before. The managers are dunderheads. It is that or they have absolutely no clout or backbone. Lack of good leadership. Total lack of respect and common sense. There is definitely a two tiered system within the union. It is too bad because the job itself I thought had great promise. I also enjoyed the department and naively believed that with really hard work and great ideas I could improve it and put my best foot forward. They seriously need to turn this thing around. I found the accepted level of mediocrity and indifference disturbing.
