The wave of success has crashed on the shore of change .Days of old prosperity at every move and turn are finished .Loblaw operations bit off more than they could chew and now the employees are again going to fund operational mangements mistakes and short comings.Thank god we have a union to get the front line workers something. To be without the union would be a disaster. We are capable of turning things around with the store employees but we lack a visonery at the top .We have a axe man running the company .He doesnt understand people or Food .
I agree with some of your comments .... but be careful of your trust with the union. Your heart and compassion and dedication ... will, unfortunately not change a thing. Take your knowledge and dedication elsewhere, where it's appreciated.
I repersent the majority of the workforce and we have put many years in done good things and have prospered because of our work and partnership with managment now we can either come to a fair and equitable settlement or this will be the beginning of a new era where Walmart style business practises pervail and this will put us back to our roots where we fought to get to where we are now. They wont give so we will take. When you say union you refer to the guy on top , I am talking about the union of workers who are bound together from the time spent together working and socializing in and out of work.Social media has brought us together as if under one roof.I believe we will be on strike and I hope the management gets to really experience the life of the retail worker as they will be brought in to keep stores open .The customers will decide this with there wallets.
have been on a strike with Loblaw and lost, but have the satisfaction of knowing that I tried to make the contract better by my action.. hope with the next contract the majority doesn't look to the short future of their own employment (as I heard often in past contract talks)(many were students with hopes of "careers" outside the retail environment)..never know when they might have to come back to that if their "real careers don't work out)..I agree that upper management need an "opportunity" to work at store/warehouse level and with the same demands as normal times to bring their focus back to the needs of the customer and long time retention of their enthusiastic and loyal colleagues..
