I can see why people who look to this employer as a means of living would be unhappy. The opportunities for advancement are almost invisible, would take over 5 years at least. But it's a good job for part time students. I work in general merchandising and it's a nice clean, straight forward job. The only bad thing is standing up for 8 and a half hours. When I get used to that it'll be easy. The time flies by because there's always something to do. I think this job is nice because last job I worked was Wendy's and in comparison, Loblaws is Heaven.
Not too sure if you can compare Loblaws to "Heaven" lol.But for a part time job, its alright..Standing for hours on end is not too bad once you get used to it. Same goes for other physically related job descriptions in the store.As for atmosphere and co-workers, some of the most down to earth and easy to get along with people work at Loblaws... at the part time staff level mostly though. You are right on the other hand, advancement opportunities are not that visible.It seems like the turn over rate for certain departments is often an all time high. Especially for front end cashiers. Must be a reason so many people leave...
