Quit after 11 years. Instead of listening and believing to their own employees they chose instead to believe in all the lies of an outside party. They're like an old aging dinosaur that refuses to lie down. CP talks about innovation in all their crap that they spew in dealings with their employees/customers B.S. They don't care about the customer or their employees at all. Probably the worst...

WoW, here it goes! I have worked for CP for 8 years. 8 years of blood sweat and tears. I do not recommend working for them. Benefits are horrible. Management dislikes running trades to the extreme and why, running trades do all the works! Co-workers can be nasty to each other, they have been abused for years and thats all they know how to do, thanks to management. The hours are brutal, not...

I worked in the NMC and the stress there was intolerable. The norm there is foul language and shouting. I also found it was an old boys club. Stagnant, stale, old-school company that needs some vision and new values.

only bonus is your pension, and of course there is a downside to that too. You have to put in 35 years to get it. Very unrewarding job, nobody has any respect for anybody.

First let me start by saying I don't want to come off as a bitter employee (might happen though) just out to bad mouth this company. I am not writing this for that reason. I have been employed with CPR for 7 years now.

There are very few positives to working for CPR. In my honest opinion the negative aspects far outweigh any of the perks. I will start with the perks of the job.

Great company ... lots of challenging work and limitless career opportunities. Very socially conscioous. Very competitive compensation .... lots of flexibility in hours, benefits, etc .... good leaderhip and values... also relatively secure employment compared to other industries.

This company believes they can still attract people to this industry despite a continued attack on pay and benefits. They like to talk about their 150 year history. Let's look at that history. This is the company that sent Chinese workers into caves with dynamite to blow them up on the day the pay wagon was due to arrive. As far as their view of the workers goes not much has changed since...

With the terrible line-ups, poor quality of life being on call 24/7, the lack of respect or concern by managers and the poor training programs for both conduvctors and engineers (only getting worse...to save money) this company has only one concern...profit and self presevation. An outdated discipline system of demerits, the kangaroo court style statement proceedure that manipulates the wording...

The company has a major double standard they expect their employees to work with no schedule, sub standard equipment and a train line up thats right half the time. Moral is so low it can't even be measured. Transport canada would be interested in seeing the locomotive engineers that are being qualifed these days its down right scary.

Running Trades Employee

Business Model- nothing to say about that

Management Skills- Management quality is poor. Most of the managers lack leadership skills. Many of the managers they are promoting have no experience in railroading. The company tends to promote the brown nosers and those who are willing to bully others. Management is also held to a different standard of conduct compared to...

My spouse works for CP Rail. He has little to no benefits (Teenagers working at Walmart or 7-eleven have better benefits), works 30 plus hour shifts, management who often bully or threaten the employees until they get what they want, 100 year old discipline policies (militant) that berates all the crew even if only one of the crew has made an error, pulls employees out of service if they've been...

Benefit package terrible. We pay for our own BC Medical .and pay for part of our dental . Cheap for a company this big. Add 24/7 work schedule and military style discipline and no wonder so many employees are quitting.
