With the multi site in India, US, China, UK, Canada, etc, you expect email 24-hour a day. Sometimes you need to wait half a day for a response. People work on their own projects, but are generally helpful and willing to collaborate. The floor and cubes are always quiet, as people are nerds working in their own cubes typing all day. Make sure you get a life after work or you will go crazy soon.

Managers are sweatshopping engineers trying to compete not with the marketplace but instead with other groups doing the same exact thing. What a huge waste. Being forced to work late and weekends is awful, and if you do manage to get your own work done during " normal" hours you still have to come in weekends "for the team". Apparently you dont have enough to do if you are getting your job done...

VANCOUVER The giant computer company Cisco and U.S. prosecutors deceived Canadian authorities and courts in a massive abuse of process to have a former executive thrown in jail, says a B.C. Supreme Court judge.

The point, said Justice Ronald McKinnon in a stinging decision delivered orally on Tuesday, was to derail a lawsuit launched by the former employee, and involved a series of...

Yes long hours but that's the name of the game in the IT sweatshop business. Overall a very bad employer. Nobody wants to work for Cisco, with all the mass layoffs going on.

Don't believe the fake 'positive' comments on here, they were all written by stooges and shills who work for Cisco management/HR trying to make it sound like a decent company when really its exploitation.

Most of the reviews here are fake, obviously posted by management. Microsoft and RIM are much better praces to work, and have many five star review from honest empoyees on this website. Micosfot and RIM should be better rated that Nokia because they are better companies to work for.

I began my experience at CISCO as an intern and was immediately given the opportunity to build my skill set. Ive been here for almost two years now and still feel every bit as passionate about the work I do now as I did when I started. Its rewarding to see the results of projects Ive worked on, and its exciting to be part of a forward-thinking company where creativity and growth are...

Great organization , very professional people , even the HR dept is good ( not so common in tech companies ) . The company is not really growing so there are no advancement opportunities . People tend to stick around because salaries are good compared to the rest of the industry .

Very focused on work life balance and employee engagement. Great location and work stations are recent and always upgraded. The lab is awesome and you can use it to practice when it's not booked. I hope to pass my CCNA soon.

Pros: good salary (at least $60k), training program, no annoying union, lots of opportunities, growing company, great atmosphere, good manager if you're lucky.

Cons: too much work, need to do longer hours just to finish your work (not a 9 to 5 job), too much pressure.

I am proud to work for Cisco. I worked at many other companies and found this perfect place to work. Company offers a competitive compensation package, very good benefits. People here working for many years and many plan to retire here. You may work overtime, but you feel that you'are part of the organization and you are willing to put extra hours.

No more free drinks and food. Moral is low with recent LR (limited restructuring) aka layoff. Headcount freeze for a long time. Each engineer needs to take on lots of responsibility and pressure. In SW, you need to work with remote sites to "triage" and debug issues via remote desktop (WebEx, VNC, etc). Great collaboration tools like TelePresence and internal messaging. 200+ emails a day...

Not a great place to be unless you enjoy being paid to be beaten up by 'managers' who've never managed but are more focused on looking good to others than doing the right thing. Totally devoid of leadership. Resulting in ridiculous hours and an environment that is lacking in any sort of respect for the individual UNLESS you happen to be 'connected' to the old boys. MadMen has nothing on this...

Sorely lacking in any professional courtesy. Total 'old boys' club with those that have been here for a long time having a sense of entitlement to promotions or plum roles. Does not demonstrate respect for abilities or expertise, and any promotions or recognition is based on who you are aligned to. If you're not part of the favorites then you have no hope of succeeding. Long working hours. Micromanaged. Free drinks including coffee, pops, juice and free popcorn. Work with people in San Jose and India, so you will be required to be on the phone and work off hour to be available to employees in other countries. You get hundreds of emails if not thousands. People are pushy and expect you to push others.
