Just wanted to let you Canadians know it sucks in the U.S. too. I worked at a Fedex office store in America. We accepted packages and ran alot of print jobs. I think FedEx is a horrible company to work for. They only care about their profit margins and thats the bottom line. They consistently keep their stores under staffed so they don't have to pay as much. If you work in the evenings better be...

Really a sad place to be. My opinion and experience is that employees are great stepping stones for senior managers. Don't try to change anything ... just take the cheque and you will be fine. Yuch!

Generally good pay, average benefits. Extremely top down management which is not particularily proactive. Very bottom line driven, more so as each year passes. Very good public image.

Current employees have been directed to increase reviews. The company places great pride in the Hewitt survey which this organization responds to after filtering responses to ensure a high score. Employees trying to change the culture for the good of all are referred to as whiners and put on what the company calls an exit strategy. Exercise caution ... if you're a politician you can do well...

This company is all about SMOKE,MIRRORS,and HYPOCRISY...the only time we hear any feedback is when we've made errors.

My local management "team" is more than a little inept and are propped up by a solitary keen figure that makes things happen....I really don't know how they keep they're jobs...Our workforce has changed over by at least 35% in recent years and that NEVER used to happen...SPEAKS...

I really enjoyed working for FedEx (Ground). Due to conflict with my University studies, and being short staffed, I was being over-worked and the lack of sleep was conflicting with my school. I originally started out as a package handler and then moved on to being the head of the customs department. I thought management was really good. I had some of the best managers I have had in my working...

No matter what company you work for in any place you will find employees that complain because of their inability to move forward, and/or general negative attitude.

Perhaps this sounds a bit idealistic, however, if you don't like your job and feel that FedEx or any other company is such a terrible place to work then leave. Pretty simple, no?

I worked at the call center in Richmond, B.C. and it was the worst decision I have ever made. The management team is all run by office politics as the senior manager of the call center is not qualified to do his job and promotes a culture of backstabbing to make himself look better. I worked for this company for nearly six years. Their corporate philosophy of "people service profit" is non existent.

The executive management is talented. It is the middle management that is lacking. Too many cooks in the kitchen as the saying goes.

The salary is decent. They need an overhaul of their HR department. The front line staff (drivers, customer service, handlers) are what...

The company in a whole is great! The problem is some of the people that are in leadership or shall I say lack of are in. Some people in management abuse their power and use it for getting back at people. You can advance with the company if you are willing to put in the time and effort and make the change. If you are out spoken though it is frowned upon. For a company that asks for employee...

A sad political quagmire where Senior Management is solely concerned with self promotion. Turnover is increasing. FedEx Canada is a great job if you have no other options.

Cons:

- Whether you work there for 5-10-15-20-25 years, odds are you will be doing the same job. Even when you stay, it takes a looooong time to move up. Its all about seniority, and unless someone dies/retires/transfers, you dont move up usually.

The problem with this company is that once you are hired, you hit a ceiling very quickly. There is no advancement, unless you leave the company. I was originally hired to do call kinds of sophisticated analysis but the demand for it has virtually dried up. I ask myself everyday, "Why am I still here"?

Fedex at Vancouver Airport is one of those those employers that says it, but doesn't mean it. The company embraces diversity, alright - but only at levels below management. Warehouse employees such as cargo handlers are mostly Filipino and Chinese, and African-American, while all managers are Caucasians over the age of thirty. Seeing that in contrast to the mostly of-colour warehouse workforce,...

Fedex in Canada needs to ''walk the talk''. Management is clearly overworked and little solutions are made to fix the problem. It is much easier to say that there is no problem. In general this is a great company to work for but several major issues need to be adressed. Decision making is centralised in toronto and we are very slow and conservative in making significant changes to improve.

FedEx in Canada is a shadow of the great company that it is in the US. The main issue in Canada is bureaucracy with the centralization of decision mostly in the Toronto head office with little regard for regional differences. Turnover is starting to be more frequent specially in the managerial and proffessional ranks and is a sign of times to come.
