When it comes to IT Microsoft is simply the best there is. Pay is amazing. Lots of opportunities to learn new things. Competent management (a rarity). Really happy.
The best place I have ever worked at. The employee compensations are probably not top of the class in the industry but the people and the wealth of knowledge you work with helps out in that area. Managers are great, and the company does value its employees.I will love to go back and work for MS.
they expect you to work 70 hours a week and perform your best or you're GONE. the salary is only as good as the next guy's regardless of how your work is. nepotism and no respect for employees EVERYWHERE. the software is not fully tested when we are forced to release it just to make sure the management gets their money
Microsoft is a top company, because they hired the top employees. So you work in a stimulating environment, with bright people, so you'll learn a lot. Also, really great benefits.
Microsoft is a horrible company to work for! They do have a good benefit package however employees' development is completely lacking. Management is only interesting on squeezing the hard work of their employees with no recognition. Moreover they are completely shady, salary base is not share with the employees because within the same role different employees can be making a significant...
One of the best company to work for
Amazing feeling to be surrounded by many smart and humble people, working together to acheive the very best and change the world to the better.
Simply the best place to work - from the outstanding culture, flexibility, great like-minded people, and many surrounding perks. Can't imagine having gone anywhere else post-grad, and don't see myself leaving anytime soon either.
This is a great company, with a lot of openness in the decision making process. You really feel you are making a difference in the lives of millions of people worldwide. Microsoft encourages self-critical and career focused growth, thus making it a great place to be yourself. The Compensation and benefits are above the industry average. The only qualm I have is that as opposed to the redmond...
I have just joined Microsoft for w weeks, and I am already sure and confident that Microsoft has the best that any employee wants. The best companionship, the best management, the best experience, benefits, simply, they just wants you to be happy.
Microsoft is an excellent company to work for. Great working environment, good work-life balance and exciting new products.
Fantastic employer. Was there for 4 months as a co-op and was able to do a lot of great work and had my manager treat me with great respect, helped me develop a lot of skills and was a great team overall. HIGHLY recommended.I do agree that vendors/contractors don't have it quite as good as full timers.
MS is a great employer but I think that as it has been said you must be a full time employee to really adopt the company culture. It is a bit sad also to see that people on contract are not so recognized because a lot of them have real abilities and competencies.
Going on 2-years now. Best company to work for in the entire IT sector. Yes, I have had the kool-aid. Most of the complainers here seem to have been "v-dashes" - if you are a blue badge, it's a different story. As for telephone support being moved to India - keep up - it's back - at least in the U.S. centers. At Microsoft one can move vertically or laterally - there is as much opportunity...
Overall, nothing really to complain about... however I'm on a great team... so your milage may vary
Been there for 12 years, but lack of recongnition and constant reorgs is taking a toll. New management structure means more decision are out of my control than ever before. MSN has no clear vision of it's future and poor leadership in management. Very sad but lots of good people are leaving a sinking ship.
This company certainly knows how to run a project. MS is well organized and runs a tight ship. But despite all the good ratings, you just won't fit in unless you buy in to the hype. Until the brainwashing sets in, you feel somehow "dirty" for helping to promote Redmond's attempts at world domination. I eventually left not because I had a problem with the work or the job, but because I felt that...
great place to work. emphasis on development. VERY redmond centric...you work for Seattle.
A great place to work - it's interesting that some of the most negative comments came from people who were not full time employees of Microsoft. You definintely need to subscribe to the corporate culture and "drink the cool-aid", but that's part of why working there is so great, although there may many different goals within the company, there is a common vision. Although it may sound a little...
Simply a great place to work
This Place will certainly eat their young and sell the remains to off-shore support. The organization when it came to some product releases was almost non-exsistant. Although you can easily find resolve with known issues.. getting information on new issues was always a mission, and when that mission was done it was up to you to document it for future cases. Although I enjoyed the job, I do not...
My experience at Microsoft was not a positive and as such I left the company after a year. There is saying that this is a company that "eats their young", and while I kind of knew that Microsoft had an interesting "culture" going in, to actually see it up close was something else. First of all, you must drink the corporate cool aid. There is a high degree of churn at the management level as there...
Best years of my life have been spent here with no regrets!
Fantastic company to work for!! Everything you could hope for in a company and never a day that is the same as the last!
It really wasn't a good experience. If you want to work at Microsoft you have to share their values, no critic is accepted and the private life if no really respected.
