GK has excellent pay and benefits. Overall management is very professional and listen to employees (to a certain extent). It does a good job at retaining its employees.

Overall, an outstanding place to work - It would take something extraordinary for me to voluntarily leave. Very people-focused management team, high level of engagement and good options for flexible work hours. There is lots of real evidence of a commitment to work/life balance (e.g. the on-site fitness centre is great).

Effectively promotes a healthy work/life balance. IT vision is ahead of the curve with interesting projects and new technologies. Good benefits, vacation days structure. Great group of people to work with.

Downside is some departments are very contractor heavy and landing a F/T position is very difficult; the other side to that is there is probably not a better place to land a contract job...

I worked for GSK for 1.5 years on a contract. I absolutely loved it and wish I was still there but unfortunately, it's very difficult to become a permanent employee (lots of competition, favouritism, politics, etc.) Still, I had some wonderful managers/mentors when I was there. The atmosphere was also quite "healthy," people were very engaged, and the perks were amazing -- trips, meals at fancy...

It's a great company that values work/life balance and promotes it effectively with employees. There are also lots of great development opportunities vertically and laterally, especially on the commercial side of the business. Finally, the company effectively communicates its vision and core values to employees - focusing on innovation, integrity and focusing on patient needs.

The people (well most of them) are great.. however, there are not enough full-time employees, as most of the jobs are contract-based. The workload gets pretty crazy sometimes in the IT dept, but at least you never get bored.

Pharma may be fine, but Biologicals is terrible... And for this one, it is not beware of Ontarians, but rather Belgians...

In general it is a very good company to work at.

Beware of mergers.

Ontario managers (where the headquarter is) tend to close other provinces offices and jobs for the benefit of ontario people - Selfish.
