Steer clear. You need to play the political game, and get in line like everyone else. If you don't, it is a tough road ahead. I've been running the department since my former manager left months ago. Zero recognition. Asked for a pay raise and title change, was essentially laughed at. Still running the department as a low paying clerk. Better than nothing BUT be prepared. Fare warning.
