Economic conditions dictated that Deloitte had to make a downsizing decision. A lot of ppl that were let go were good performers. Partners have been very distant and unhelpful for the most part. its the Managers and senior Managers that have to tend the flock even though downsizing decisions are made exclusively by the partners. there is little or no empathy for employees and their necessities

Look up poaching clients on google and go forward with your life. Accounting is all about clients, the clients know your work, bright people are fired all the time. Been fired about 12 times in public practice , have been self employed for 20 years now and love it.
