  • I am in the nurses union and despite taking a pay cut i left AHS in Edmonton to go to Vancouver Costal health.

    Management where I worked was disorganized. There was no recognition or consistency even within union contracts. Employers were free to allow to change union contracts and it was hard to dispute anyhing within the union.

    Ethically, there were burnt out nurses allowed to work overtime and unsafe practices not addressed. Corruption is common among management. The turnover rate where I worked used to be low and in the last 3 years it is now greater than 50%. New leadership is needed and front line staff need to be given some recognition of their hard work and loyalty which is not the case with AHS.
